SHOWER DOMES
I have a 2 piece shower dome, inner and outer. Does any one know what is the purpose of the inner dome? Is it needed?

The outer dome sits on top of the roof and gets screwed in and sealed. That leaves the insulation and ceiling cavity open to steam and moisture from the shower. The inside dome gets screwed to the interior ceiling and seals the ceiling cavity from moisture. Added benefits as noted above, the inside dome trims out the hole so it looks better from inside, and also traps a layer of air that helps insulate.
