shower door frame too low.

Figured Id start coming up with some ideas for my shower. It is in a 2010 Raptor toy hauler. Same type of shower stall as many homes have with the 3 piece glass wall and door. The problem is if I don't pay attention I always hit my head on the piece above the door. It is much lower then my house shower. I am only 5'10" also. The trailer is in storage so I can sit in front of it trying to come up with a cheap solution. HAs anyone had the same and fixed it? So far my only 2 options I can see is to replace the glass with taller or to remove the centre section brace. Removing the brace would work but I think with the flex of the trailer it may come apart. Replacing the glass would be costly I'm thinking.

You might fabricate an upside down U shaped cross brace, bolt it to the low cross brace at each side, then cut away the head knocking middle of the existing cross brace.

I'd estimate that this could be done in a couple of hours including a trip to Ace Hardware.
That's the first thing I thought of. That's what I would do to remedy the situation.

  • If it's anything like our 2005 Raptor I would start by pulling the skylight and seeing what structure is above the shower. I think you're right if you pull the cross-brace you need something to keep everything in place. Another thought would be to cut the cross-brace, and replace with something during travel that would lock in place and hold the corners. This might be something that you do along with extended the vertical corners up to the ceiling and hopefully to the aluminum frame.

  • If I hit my head I usually remember not to do it again. Simple answer some bright ribbon taped to the offensive object handing down to get your attention when getting ready to board the shower.
  • Might it be practical to remove the center section entirely (maybe bracing the uprights to the ceiling) and install a shower curtain on a track or, if there's enough headroom under the ceiling, a rod?
