Shower draining too slowly

Water is draining much too slowly in the shower. In a house, I'd simply dump some Drano or such. Not so sure in an RV. Any words of wisdom?

  • While not a fan of caustic chemicals especially in the holding tank or not wanting to put a lot of pressure on the plastic drains as already talked about causing damage.

Having woman in the household and Hair clogged drains.

I have used a natural drain cleaner that was told to me by an old timer......

I have used almost all types of drain cleaners and none have worked as good as this, and it is cheap.

It is just household items....BAKING SODA AND VINEGAR. Then Hot Water.

Sure. That way you can get your drain and your wallet both cleaned at the same time.

And be careful putting pressure on the drain as it could cause damage.
  • I have quite successfully used a piece of mechanics wire and folded over the tip. It will go down the drain, and usually catch gobs of hair and goo, and then you pull it back, clean it off, and try again and again. If it catches, just turn it around until it comes free, and then run water down it to finish off the job.
  • Drain King hose attachment for clearing plugged sink/shower drains.
    Walmart, Home Depot etc.

Attach garden hose, stuff it into drain line, turn on water.....it will expand sealing drain line and then blast the clog out.

They also have larger size for 3"-4" lines (like down the toilet or up dump line)

  • We just had a similar problem with our drain. After trying a couple drano type products which only helped for a day or two, a neighbor turned us on to another solution. We pulled a hose in through the window, aimed it down the drain with a hand towel wrapped around the sprayer end and blew the clog out with the hose pressure. It worked great! The clog has stayed gone this time.
