When you leave home for a few days, do you turn off the main water valve at your house?
Wife and I considered doing this, after a fitting on a water line let loose, upstairs in her boss' house. It was over their kitchen, damaged cabinets, hardwood floors, etc. What a mess.
To do this, I'd have to add a cut-off after the line to the lawn sprinkler system, oh, and where will in-laws or neighbor kids get access to water to water potted plants in our backyard ...
So, in the end, we don't. But thought about it!
