Shut off water at home???
When you leave home for a few days, do you turn off the main water valve at your house?

yes you do leave for work but thats not 2 wk or more.
What difference does that make? Do you have any evidence that pipes break more when you're on vacation then when home?
You have a 18X more chance of it breaking at when you're not at home or asleep then when you're on vacation (at least I do). If a pipe breaks in your home for more than a 1/2 an hour you have big problems anyway.
So why not be consistent and turn it off when you go to work or you're way for more than a 1/2 an hour? :h
