It still amazes me about the amount of people that applies in my department at work and can't pass a drug screen. Just had a 60 y/o woman that couldn't pass her drug screen. :h
I guess I'm too old fashioned and I don't give them enough time to study for the test....:h
So she was involved in an accident or poor performance or what?
I of course do not know the particulars of this womans test. And under the rules of drug testing neither should you unless you are part of the human resources dept or her direct supervisor. Even then it is unethical to divulge the REASON for the failure. Or even that she failed.
But consider this. A 60 year old woman may be taking a combination of prescription drugs that may cause a test failure or confusion or lead to a false positive. In addition she may be taking a marijuana derivative (legal in many states) for severe pain, cancer or other medical reasons.) Do you really think she should lose her job because of this?
This is what I mean when I say that Zero Tolerance has no place in our system. There are just too many variables and too many false positives. You can only have an ethical Zero Tolerance policy if you have ZERO mistakes by the system. And that is never going to happen.
