Sleep Number leaking on one side in MH

I have the old type with a cable from the remote running under the bed platform. The other side is good, holds its pressure even over several weeks of non use. My side began getting freaky with missing sections on the numbers on the remote display. Then it progressed to wildly ossilating numbers, starting at 5# up to 15# and zooming up to 110# ( SHOULD TOP OFF AT 100) and back again to low pressures on continuing to press the up arrow. Now it has progressed to my side of the bed being totally flat. Called Sleep number. They are mailing me some plugs, whereby I can isolate the problem. Plug it and if the pressure drops, the problem is the air chamber. If it holds, its the pump mechanism. I am able to pump up the chamber on my side, but it seems to keep pumping unless I press the up arrow. It then stops pumping and begins to lose air pressure on my side of the air chamber. I am going to inspect the inlet to the air hose, to see the condition of the "O" ring but getting to the pump will be a major chore as panels under the bed will have to be unscrewed to inspect. I'm not that handy at these things so any advise will be helpful..THANK YOU
