Shouldn't be a problem to detach the slide topper and do the work then put the topper back on. Go to you-tube look a videos of how to replace a slide topper. roll the topper out and pin it like they do in the instructions. Then remove the roller tube with the awning still on it lay it on the roof fix your leak problem put the roller back on remove the pins you installed job done.
