I guess I should throw my 2 cents into this. I have had a fifth wheel that for years had no slide toppers, finally installing them. I wouldn't be without again. They do reduce debris on the slide, and frankly I'm not interested at my age in climbing onto the roof to sweep the slides off every time I run the slides in. They aren't perfect, and the long slide will build up water in a heavy rain, but everything falls off, including the snow I sometimes get when you run the slides in. I have heard the complaint that they can be noisy in strong wind, but I have yet to hear it, plus it does keep the sun from hitting the slide top directly, giving it an insulative effect. I'm sold on them; just get a good brand.
