slideout disconnection question
hello all, im new to the site and owning an RV, ive recently purchased a 2004 prowler regal, i consider myself to be very mechanically inclined as i used to be a mechanic however there are some things i would like to get feed back on before i take the leap...
i wish i had educated myself prior to purchasing an rv, especially a 5th wheel with a slide out... ive just started experiencing what a huge responsibility it is to own a rv... small problems started popping up and i was able to fix them easily aka water leaks, rips in the thermoplastic roofing, among other things... however there is 1 issue i would like to ask the users here... i know fleetwood is notorious for their slide out switches.. one day i come home and find my slide out fully retracted my heart sank it hit my sl500 parked next to it and did a number to it however it bent my slideout frame which is attatched to the rams... the slideout wont fully close its about half an inch off on the bent side.
im pretty sure i can bend it back which brings me to my question. if i disconnect both rams connected to the slide out room will the slide out drop down (assuming its almost fully in the rv) or will it be supported by the floor of the rv? my plan was to remove the bolts and maybe have it jacked up some how then retract the slide out rams and bend the part back in. & then reinstall...
if any one has any experience with this your input would be greatly appreciated!
