Hello all,I always wonder if I'm missing something... Why can't I find, or why does Dicor not make small squeeze tubes of lap sealant? I very rarely need a full caulk tube. I check the roof every month or two, and if I see even a small crack in sealant I like to seal it right away. Once it's opened it seems that I can wrap the end and save it for maybe a month or two, but beyond that it starts getting hard. Cant count how many 3/4 tubes I have thrown away over the years. I would so much rather buy multiple very small hand squeeze tubes. Anyone ever see anything like this?

It's called "marketing", without admitting or acknowledging it, they love it when folks need to discard 1/2 used product and are forced to buy new! Great for sales and profit!

JerryI never thought to do that. I'm going to use a vacuum sealer with my next tube and see if it extends its usefulness.

Great for sales and profit!Not really: not lapsealant but just bought a small tube of caulk and it was like $0.50 less even though it only had a fraction of the quantity...I knew I didn't need much for the job and it goes bad anyway if you let it sit for more than a day or so...so I bought the little tube. I'm sure they made more profit on the little tube but no point in paying the extra $0.50 for 3 times the quantity...that I won't use.

I use a long bolt or screw the diameter of the hole in the tube nozzle and had it last a year.

I keep all my sealant tube in the fridge in the garage. With the ends sealed off they last for years.

I plug the end tightly and no problem.

ram a golf tee in the hole and tape over it. good to go.

cant say i have ever not used the whole tube though. that stuff is awsome. i always seem to find places for it

I put a large framing nail in first and then use the red caps that were mentioned in a post from above. I have some tubes that are over a year old and no issues.

If you don't need a self-leveling variety, take a look at Flex Shot. Small (easy to store), reusable, and caulking gun not required.

If the tube is resealed properly it will last a longer than a yr, have a tube that was opened 3yrs ago and still good and runny. I use #10 wire to seal mine. The smooth side wire from solar work.

I lament this all the time. I have a small spot in my sticks and bricks bathroom that needs caulk. It kills me to buy an entire tube that is unwieldy and will be mostly wasted.

Cost wise though, there's not much difference.
