small victory

After being crippled 5 years ago, walking is a real chore; using a cane or walker and discomfort, ranging from slight to agony, with every step has limited my range and my initiative to go places. Last winter, my doctor told me I had better start getting some exercise. So I started to go to the mall and join the other walkers. When I first started 2 months ago, I was only able to go about 1/4 mile in half an hour. My speed and distance has increased, and today I finally hit my goal. Once around the mall is .7 miles so 3 times is 2.1 miles. I have been trying to get to the 1 hour mark for 3 times around, closest was 1 hour and 3 minutes. Today, was 1 hour! I had that walker really moving. Life does get better.
  • Congratulations Rich. Next thing you know you will lose the walker all together stay after it.
  • After a bout with some pretty debilitating stuff myself, I can truly appreciate the guts and hard work it takes to come back. Congratulations, and keep it up!
  • Congratulations! Keep pushing. The more you push the better you will feel and the harder you will push.

I've got a saying: Just keep moving fast enough to stay ahead of the first shovel full of dirt. Because when they hit you with it, it is all over.
