The way it was in the 60's....Not bad. Stores closed on Sunday and Wednesday.
Snowbird money is always welcome, but NOT vital.
Sorry but I respectfully disagree.
I think your states economy has evolved to where it would collapse if you lost snowbird/tourism dollars.
Those dollars ARE vital in todays situation.
Well, we will have to disagree, and that is O.K.
Maybe in areas around the mouse, that may be true, as those areas are busy year round, but that is not the whole state.
I lived those times. I saw what happens when there was little or no tourism year after year.
Also, what do you think that Florida does the other 6 months when there are no tourists? I tell you: The strong, well run businesses survive. The weak ones fail.
I still maintain that tourist dollars are welcome, not vital, and most longtime residents will agree.
Snowbirds and people going to theme parks are not the only tourists Florida receives. Florida had 94.7 million visitors in 2013 (another record number), and is the top travel destination in the world. The tourism industry has an economic impact of $67 billion on Florida’s economy. Not sure how you could label 67 billion in revenue as not vital. Keeps me from paying state income taxes - thank you very much. That itself is vital to me... Plus, I and many others love camping here in the summer. Now don't any of y'all out-of-staters listen to the grumpy gusses on this here thread. Y'all come back now - ya hear?
