Truck is a 2006. It's GVW is 8800 lbs. That's what the door label says. It's a automatic transmission, 4WD. Hubby says the gear ratio is 373. RAWR is 6010.
Our current travel trailer is a 2012. It's GVW is 8900 pounds.
The fifth wheel is a 2011.
The truck is gas, not diesel.
Thanks OP that a big help in figuring how much the truck can carry and how much Dodge says it can tow.
Looking at '06 Dodge body builders guide on page #20
clicky link says a 2500 Mega Cab 5.7 hemi.....3.73 axle ratio...... auto tranny can tow a 8700 (2wd) and 8250 lb (4wd).
Dodge gives all Mega or std cab or quad cab 2500 trucks a 6000-6010 RAWR. The gas Mega cabs can weigh in the 2800 lb range on the rear axle leaving around 3000-3200 lb payload in the bed. A RAWR is the lessor of a tire/wheel or rear spring pack so don't exceed the trucks RAWR.
You have the truck so a trip to the scales for sepatrate front and rear axle weight numbers will tell you your weight numbers.
Our Dodge Mega cab or std cab or quad cab trucks has the same 6" 4" short bed so some type of sliding hitch is necessary. Some folks use the Reese Sidewinder pin box with a non sliding hitch.
Now can your truck tow the trailer in the clicky picture ?? Need the trailers GVWR or dry weight and CCC.
