So you are sitting by the fire, and you hear

Coyotes howling? Remember it is really dark. The only light in the campground is your fire. No street lights, no camper lights. The moon is behind the trees. they sound like they are really close. I mean REALLY close. So what do you do?

AND your fire is too big to leave alone.
  • Come to Northern Minnesota.
What you will hear howling will be wolves, not coyotes.
And same response. Just sit and listen and enjoy what not many people have the opportunity to hear these days.
  • Don't sweat the small stuff. As a rule (rarely broken) they won't attack humans. They will however, yip until they can get your pet to follow them until they can ....... Well you know the ending of that.
  • Put the dog in the camper and stay by the fire. Coyotes are notorious cowards. They don't want to come to your fire any more than you want them there.

Here in Idaho we refer to them as yodel dogs.
  • Enjoy the evening and the coyotes song. They are not a threat to humans! They are a threat to dogs and cats.
  • You start by being thankful you're in the TT and not a tent. :E
