So, is "apple at chun" the correct way to pronounce "appalachian"?
Yes, sir, (I am assuming you are a sir), this is the correct pronunciation. It is pronounced the same way the town in Florida is pronounced. - TNGW1500SEExplorerHope they chase off the bears and kill all the rattlesnakes.
- vortec22ExplorerWe will have coyotes come through our front yard in the fall and winter. My German Shorthair will sit on the front porch or in the living room and bark at them, smart enough not to follow them out. It can be an eerie sound at first, but then it is beautiful.

- LynnandCarolExplorercoyotes do not like the human scent. Your safe!

Coyotes howling? Remember it is really dark. The only light in the campground is your fire. No street lights, no camper lights. The moon is behind the trees. they sound like they are really close. I mean REALLY close. So what do you do?
AND your fire is too big to leave alone.
I enjoy the evening including the sounds of nature. - At DH's cousin's house in southern Louisiana, we camp in the backyard several yards from the house. Occasionally when we return to the motorhome at the close of the evening, they are yipping and howling in the fields behind us. It's spooky because it's pitch black out there in the country. It is kind of neat to hear them, but it scares me. Cousin said one night he was in the barn right behind where we park the motorhome and he could hear them and said they must have been chasing something and roared right past the barn. I feel safe in the motorhome listening to them, but don't want to venture out. Our dogs are always on leashes when we walk them anywhere, but there we bust out more lights when they go out after dark!
