Yes, but you forget, they already passed a bill that will pay out all that "money it has" for the salaries of the employees that are now sitting at home, or taking a paid vacation.
Don't get me wrong, it's not the employees fault - BUT, if we're gonna pay them, they should work for it and get the parks and other offices open. You're exactly right, BUT, they are not allowed to work. I know & deal with many, many govt employees every day, they are not allowed to even go to their office & volunteer their time even if they wanted to, they are not even allowed to answer their govt cell phones during the furlough. We've paid for it, and we can never get those days back.
Every failure from now and into the next ten years will be blamed on this shutdown, even if the shutdown does not have a direct effect. IT's the perfect excuse.
