Somebody educate me on "Nitrogen" in the tires ?

We just bought a new Travel trailer and I never noticed at the dealers, but saw a sticker on the side today that said there is nitrogen in the tires. Someone please explain what this is for. Jack ...

I've had tires come out with Nitrogen, but in my small community there is no Nitrogen. Thus mine all end up with regular air just like I've used all my life.
