OK so here goes. I'm sure this has been done before by someone else but they may not wan to admit it. I on the other hand have been on the receiving end, had time to think about it and see the funny side of it.
So here goes.
We were camping at a campground in Quebec not to far from Montreal. We were a group of 7 trailers and too get spots all one beside the other we opted for 2 service sites. We were only planning to be there for a 3 day weekend so we thought no problem we'll dump on the way out. Well needless to say with flush happy kids and friends coming and going(pun intended) our black water tank filled by Sunday morning with a day and a half left to go. As luck would have it this campground is right next to a flea market that had lots of camping stuff. So I thought this was the perfect time to pick up a 15 gal tote tank. I would just make a trip or two to the dump station and problem solved. I got the tank and spent a good portion of the morning modifying the hitch adapter to the Trailgator bike attachment(the thing that lifts up a kids bike front wheel and tows them fifth wheel style) that I still had on my mountain bike (kids bikes have not been hooked up to it for a year or 3! but I had not taken it off. Perfect I thought to take the full tank over to the dump station and I was right. The adventure really started when I got the tank around to the dump valve side o the TT and all hooked up everything is great and no problems. Just a note here is that our dump valves are between the main pullout and the pullout for the kids bedroom a small section about 2 feet wide, not a whole lotta room to move. So I'm on my knees right beside the trailer in this little cubby between the slides with the tank right beside me ready to go! SO I pull the valve... Right then as if in slow motion I see the tank sort of sweeelllLLLL UP and you guessed it POW!! right as I'm looking at the small vent cap that I had neglected to loosen. Needless to say the POW was followed by a whoosh of, you can guess this one I'm sure... Me covered sides of both pullouts covered along with the wall of the trailer and I pretty confident that brown spot on the roof of the TT was not there before. All this followed by a few VERY brown colored explicative words... hurriedly shut the valve and start running for the water hose to start spraying tings and ME down. During this whole happy episode my wife and kids had gone to the beach with our friends. Wondering why it was taking me so long my wife wandered back to the trailer to find the tank still beside the trailer and me not there. She moves around the trailer to find my clothes in a heap beside the TT door. Huuummm that bugger she must have thought. Who could I have been in the trailer with no clothes on with. Needless to say she found me in the shower along with a rather unpleasant smell in the TT. Looking back it was all very funny and a heck of a good lesson to always loosen the vent before pulling the valve to the tote tank!!!
