Some people here think just complaining to the management is going to solve the problem or writing about it on RV Park Review will make a difference. Well after complaining after they left we were told they witnessed the dogs lunging at people ( but they were on a leash at that time) and they were being held back. Needless to say I'm confident complaining earlier would have net the same results from the management. I wasn't into confronting 4 drinking adults in front of three kids and three huge dogs, who were proven to be very agressive.
This park is a KOA in Petoskey MI. Looking on RV Park Review this is one of the highest rated parks ( look for yourself). It's a flagship award winning franchise for the KOA establishment. There are very few if any negative remarks about this park. Actually we've been here numerous times without issues. It's very nice and located in one of the most beautiful places in the country IMHO. They are at capacity every weekend in the summer.
So after reading other threads in the last month or so about people complaining about campgrounds on RV Park Review where the complaints were not deserved or someone just trying to upset the apple cart. I've decided that my remarks would be looked at as the same and over looked as being trivial, and someone just trying to cause trouble. Some said I'm part of the problem for not writing to RV Park Review. Perhaps, but it is a judgement call, and my review would not be seen for any value amongst all the other rave reviews. And frankly ... Believe it or not ... We will be back next year. Just in a bigger site.
I look at this as a learning experience for us. The next time it happens we will pack up and leave the campground filing our complaint as we drive out. It isn't worth putting up with other inconsiderate arrogant campers and having it turn confrontational or worrying about retribution by them complaining to the management.
Campground rules are meaningless in many campground for the most part, and usually not enforced. They are there to cover the campgrounds rear end and make the establishment seem attractive to potential customers. There is no way this KOA could police the rules as they were too busy locating campers, cleaning bathrooms and cabins, running the office, pool care, activities. What it really honestly needs is a security detail.
Lesson learned.
