Spare door key for the RV

Just don't hide you key by putting it under the car with a piece of wire. I did that and years later when I needed the key I found out that the wire had rusted away and the key was lost. Thank heavens for AAA

The key slot is hidden behind a plastic piece on the handle that slides out. A lot of cars are going this route for sleeker lines. I personally find it brain-dead, because I like having key access on the driver and passenger sides, but style is everything, it seems.

I like the keypad on my Ford. From there, it is a matter of going to the hiding place where the keys are, unlocking the strongbox, and getting what I need out. There are a lot of trim pieces on a pickup which can be yanked off, and can be used to hide keys. I personally like tossing a key in a FoodSaver vacuum seal bag, with one of those small desiccant vials found in pill bottles, then attaching that with strong, double-sided tape inside a trim piece.

Neighbor has a Ford and they have no key slot in door.

I don't know what keyless system you are referring to but mine has a key slot in the door. If you lost the key and battery is dead your screwed. But if the battery is dead what good is the key? Truck wouldn't start anyway.

most keyfobs come with Valet keys built in

Not foolproof...but, two complete sets of keys. When we're out in the RV, my wife wears one set, on one of these, on her wrist all the time.

Never had an issue since.

I use a combination key lock that bolts to the LP storage compartment, which is accessed by a twist lock. The bolts that attaches the lock to the LP storage wall are locked inside the basement compartment. This also works great if the grandkids want to go back to the trailer before Nana & papa are ready.
