Spell Check - a remedy

I read on another post that spell check doesn't work on this forum.

As you know when you have a word spelled wrong, a red line appears under the word (this might be an option in settings). You can put your cursor in the word, and then RIGHT CLICK........a pop up will come up showing different spellings. If the word is recognizable (heh heh), then the first word in the list is the right spelling. :)

That is a feature of Firefox and some other browsers. IT is not a forum feature. The clue is the phrase "Right click" the forum can not process a right click.

That may be because werd is actually a word. A slang term to be sure, but a real word nonetheless.

A don't use anything but Firefox and spell check works just fine here.
  • If you are using Internet Explorer try

    IE Spell

It is a spell checker add in that works.

I'm having problems with my keyboard keys not working all the time... The D's and E's quit on me alot haha... I have pulled the keys and cleaned and even used WD40 but it keeps coming back...

Spell check sure helps me here when this happens. I can SAVE the E and D from spell check words and paste it in when I need it haha...

Every two or three days I turn my keyboard up-side-down and shake all the cake crumbs out of it which helps too...

I really think it is my OS as I can reboot sometimes and it all starts working great again... Today all seems to be working good keyboard wise... My DELL M90 XP-PRO is getting as old as I am I reckon...

  • There was a time when the spell check stopped working for me on this site. I inquired and was given several half hearted responses as to why it stopped. Just went on with life. One day it started to work again. Go figure.

I believe one reason there are misspellings in posts is that there is an auto correct feature. The computer will guess as to what you meant to type and stick that word in the space. Fore example, if you mistype the word "their" by transposing the last two letters (theri), the computer will change it automatically to "there". Most people depend on the alert found in spellchecker and these misspellings slip through.
  • My Windows 8.0 and now 8.1, running IE 11 does a great job of spell checking on this site.

Spell check is OS and Browser specific. I have a Mac/iPad/iPhone. Each one of those spell check as I type. At school, we use windows computers, IE doesn't spell check, but Chrome and Firefox do.

Internet Explorer? Firefox has had this feature for years.
