Oh yeah, butter is a crystallized glob of something you don't want to stick your fingers into!! With the furnace working triple overtime to keep me warm, the butter has long since evaporated. But the residue remains - ugh!
I like to wind the furnace up when I have a shower, and I can still smell the butter then!
