When we turn on the water at the faucets/shower, etc. there is a squealing sound from the Suburban hot water tank.I removed what I thought might be a check valve and cleaned it, but noise still continues. There is a second connection to the heater but I can't get that one to break loose. I just about pulled the tank loose from the mounting.The local RV store guy just looked at me in wonderment when I explained the noise. I would have bought a part, but they weren't much help.Help???

Is it only when the waters running or when the heater is running? Are you connected to city water or running the pump?

Squealing noise when running water?Does squeal happen cold & hot OR just hot?Cold & hot.......if on city water then check valve in city water connectionHot only.........then check valve on WH. Check valve can be on hot out or cold inlet

It happens whenever the hot water is being used. The sound is just loud enough to be irritating.When I removed what I thought was a check valve (it had some plumbing thingys inside it), I seriously considered getting a nipple to replace it with.Obviously, a plumber I am not! But I can drink beer.Thanks

But I can drink beer.ThanksRemove the internals (plunger/spring/o-ring) or replace with a nipple and install a shut off valve on hot outlet line.Mfg. installs check valve cause they are easier and cheaper than a shut off valve.Check valve is there for when WH tank is bypassed to stop water flowing backwards into tank.Not needed if WH Tank is not bypassed.

Squealing noise when running water?

Does squeal happen cold & hot OR just hot?

Cold & hot.......if on city water then check valve in city water connection

Hot only.........then check valve on WH. Check valve can be on hot out or cold inlet
