Stabilizer Jack - Best Lubricant?

Looking for suggestions to keep the stabilizer jacks lubed for ease of operations.

I'm in the rainy Pacific Northwest and want some lube just to prevent rust, but for the two months that it is dry I don't want grease attracting dust either.

All thoughts or suggestions appreciated.
  • Dry lube. Any thing from an auto parts store will do the trick. Dry lube is an RVers best friend.

    That's what I would say!
  • I have a superglide in my bed... sooooooooooo I always have a can or 2 of Slip Plate sitting around.. That is what I use.
  • I use a can of spray lub that says w-d-40-water displacemen . works for us --now its all happy-camping ---a silicone base
  • We use Fluid Film.....super product. Recommended to us by a former RV businessman. And yes, it is a rust preventative!
  • X2 on the Fluid Film, Have used it for years. Great rust preventative and leaves a slick surface that doesn't attract dust and dirt.
  • The safest thing to use is whatever is used for the hydraulic fluid. That won't damage the seals. Mine uses automatic transmission fluid so that is what I use.
  • I've been using Dupont Dry-Film Lubricant purchased through Amazon since I had no luck buying locally. Seems to work fine.
  • I can safely recommend NOT using chain lube/wax. I sprayed mine about two years ago and they always back themselves off ever since. I tried cleaning it off with solvent, but to no avail. I have made a set of locks that I put on the screw to keep it from turning once set. There is such a thing as too good lube. The good news is, they'll never squeak or freeze up.
