Okay I'm new to this camping deal but just purchased a work and play and 1week later hauled it to South Dakota without any problems.On the return leg back to South Carolina we stopped in Kentucky for a break. The awning was out for a few hours and then the rain came. I closed the awning and no problems I started washing the new beast today and extended the awning to find none other than stains from the Kentucky leaves. How can I clean the underside (white) visible side to remove these stains. All help is greatly appreciated.

You put your awning out when you took a break? Haven't seen that yet. If the underside is white, how about a bleach solution?

Mr.Clean Magic Erasers work like a wonder. Takes off all the mildew and any spots,stains -then just hose off after.

If you roll the awning out all the way there should be a sticker on one end somewhere. It will tell you what to use and not use. Lots of ideas floating around but not all awnings are made from the same materials. FWIW my last awning said NO BLEACH on the tag. I would grab your owners manual or packet of info you got with the trailer and read thru it. Somewhere in there will be your awning manual with the right info.

Spray Nine, soft brush and rinse.

Funny you mention the leaf blower becauase I had one packed to blow the water off of the Harley after I washed it in Sturgis. that was my thought long after I had rolled up the awning.

Just a moment of stupidity on my part.

Tyhank you for reminding me about the blower though.

After you get it clean buy a cheap electric leaf blower for $30 and blow the leaves and pine needles off before you roll it up.

Two trips this summer I came back with leaf stains (and leaves) on the awning from the rain. Both times Awesome and a long handled soft auto brush, like imadtchmn used, took care of it.

I have an awning that wasn't cleaned in over 2 years. Drastically dirty. I used Awesome full strength on it and rolled it back up for about 15 minutes. Then rolled back out, took a soft auto brush to it and it cleaned right up. Looks brand new. Now I use Awesome for alot of other cleaning. Don't use full strength on windows.

So - how do you know this?

On my last TT, I had some rather large stains that just would not go away... Someone told me about the erasers so I tried them...although you cannot feel it ,they are a bit abrasive .. I rubbed some of the color off my vinyl awning in about a 1" square ... I have found that they work GREAT if you just lightly pass them over a wet fabric... no rubbing needed under normal circumstances..

I used Thetford Wash and wax and a long handled scrub brush. Came off very easily. Was maybe a 15 minute job to do the top and bottom of the awning and it does a pretty good job on the outside of the trailer. I use pledge to remove any black streaks and then the wash and wax and a brush to wash the camper.

To Doxiemom 11, yes I extended the awning for a break. The break lasted for almost 8-10 hours. As to the rest of you, thanks for the advise. I will look at the tag if I can find it for I have not seen it yet. It is the Dometics brand....

Will look online later for manufacturers advice but will try Mr. clean magic eraser.....thanks again.
