Stanley Steamer

Has any body ever had Stanley Steamer steam clean the carpets in their RV? We have some dog stains on the carpet in our living room and do not want to have the carpet too wet and prevent damage to the floor beneath it...

Perhaps I should have just said steam cleaned.........
  • we had the carpet folks at the house doing the stick and brick carpets.. while there they did the RV.. great job !! ! ! !
  • I purchased a Little Green Machine that stays in our RV in my clothes closet. It's small, perfect for grabbing out to use for new stains, but cleans well enough to clean old stains. I think it cost about $70 at Walmart.
  • I use the same Hoover steamvac I use on the home carpets. Have used it in the RV once/twice a year for the last 7 years. Works great. I do it on a day when the humidity is low and temps are ok for opening the windows. Dries fairly quickly and cleans well. Surprising just how much dirt comes up out of the carpets even when they still look clean.
  • Yes, and they did a good job. They did all the carpets - the stupid off white carpets they used to put in RVs. They also put a carpet protector on it and it has helped me get out stains.
  • Yes. They did a good job. They not only steamed the carpet but also did the fabric furniture. You will want them to do it on a nice sunny day where you can open the windows to let the carpet dry. They do not soak the carpet but it does stay damp for a while. A fan blowing across the carpet will help the drying.
  • I would personally recommend the dry method. I always used it and it does a first class job. No waiting to use RV afterwards. One never knows what kind of cheap pad, (if any), RV Manft's use under carpet. Mold spores are always present. The cost is about the same.

Another approach to this (which is much less costly), is use the "Resolve" dry carpet cleaner, brush it in, let it set for a hour and vacuum it up.It does a great job on pet stains. Resolve is available in any Grocery store, or Wal-Mart.
  • we don't use Stanley Steemer but we do have the carpeting wet cleaned each year.
