Not to worry... Ya'll can come up to BC and get as much of our water as you want and it's almost free.
The BC gov't. recently brought in new legislation, the Water Sustainability Act, to manage and protect our water resources. Sounds like a great idea at first, but the gov't just made a deal with Nestle (world's largest water bottler) who will be paying a mere $2.25 per million liters. Until now, they have not had to pay anything for it. They have been and will continue to pull water from a well at Hope BC, which has among the purest water in North America (IIRC, it's the purest). They've taken hundreds of millions of liters per year already and with the droughts down south, you have to know that will soar in the near future.
Even China is after our water and is already getting 1.4 million liters a year which is supposed to surge to over 40 million this year.
There is a lot of outrage here over this, such as here and here.
There is simply no incentive in our province to conserve water. The next thing you know, Nestle and others will have huge pipelines shipping our water to Wa. & Ca. - as much as wanted for almost free and sucking us dry in the process. At least that would save a lot of plastic bottles from going to landfills and elsewhere. Oh, and don't forget to think about how much of a profit Nestle is making out of that $1+ bottle of water you just drank.
