State scales open

Some states leave their scales open when they are closed from weighing trucks. They have a readout so you can drive on the scales and weigh. This is helpful to the truckers and would be great for us RVers.
Which states leave the scales open?
I am pretty sure Oregon is one.
If anyone knows of a list or just experience please let us know.

Thanks

  • Unless there is an issue with the scales, Oregon leaves the exits open and scales and overhead readout on 24/7. I've used them quite often to check weights or check setup changes.
  • The scales in East TN are usually on and this is what is outside on the pole, next to the drivers window:

  • Must be a northwest/midwest thing?

Vermont definitely does not. They don't even have the access roads to the weigh stations open when the stations are closed—they're gated off.
  • We usually do in IL however since everything is computerized it's nearly impossible to read the screen from outside the building. Pre-computer the readout was in about 1" numbers on the screen and could be seen from outside.
  • Every scale in Washington State that I have ever passed..We have used them often over the years in a variety of locations...
  • Only one I have ever seen open is on highway 395 north of Lakeview Oregon. That one is always on
