Staying at truck stops?????

Our friends kids are heading to Florida, the usually kiddie park, LOL, next month from Ontario.
They are planning on staying the one night heading down and back at a truck stop and then at the resort when they arrive. How safe is this? Anything they should know?

  • We stay in MAJOR truck stops, rest areas, and Walmart lots all the time when traveling from point A to point B. Never had a problem other than a rent a cop trying to assert authority he did not have. Of course you will have the ones on here who think staying anywhere but a RV park is criminal and the most dangerous thing in America.

location...location...location. big cities? not for us. small towns, rural areas...yes.
  • Walmart or Lowes. Lowes has the advantage of being closed so much quieter. Plus Lowe's leaves the wifi on .
If you tell us were they are entering the U.S perhaps someone can chime in with a good place to stay.
Be aware they cannot spend the night in a rest area in Ohio it is against the law.
  • Check with attendant....then park far away from truck activities as possible.

Any knocks on door during night....look out window first.
Bark loudly and then shout "get back Rufus, get back" before cracking door open.
  • I would stay at a Walmart before a truck stop. The truck stops are to noisy at night.
  • Depends where truck stop is........ and then there is Walmart and it depends on where IT is......
