We make the trip to FL every March and do the same.
I fill the FW tank the day we leave and the first night we stop the temps are usually just above freezing so we are good to go.
On the way home if it hasn't warmed up I open the low point drains and take the chance and make a run for it on the last day. IMO the thing won't freeze hard enough to bust a line in less than 24 hours. Then when I get home I blow the lines out, dump (I have a dump station at home) and throw some pink in the p traps.
Been doing this method for a few years now with no problems!
