Stuck clear sewer fitting

Hi. I hope someone has had this problem. I have searched the threads though and haven't found a topic where it is covered.

Anyway, on a 1999 Coachmen Class C MH, I have had a clear fitting (a 45 degree elbow) attached to the collector tube at the end of the gray/black water disposal systems. This is after the dump valves. Without this clear elbow, this is where you would connect the sewer dump flexible hose. The elbow has the typical bayonet fitting. The "bayonets" are on the fixed and permanent exit pipe connected to the dump valves. After a year or so this elbow has become stuck and can't be removed, at least by hand.

I am interested in thoughts about how to remove it. Essentially can I remove or loosen it without busting the fitting that is permanently attached to the rig. ssentially, I can still drive the rig as the elbow doesn't protrude much, but I would like to be able to remove it. I guess if I have to somehow destroy the clear fitting in the process, that is no big deal.

I will try and post an image if I can figure it out.

thanks in advance
  • because it is plastic, try a solution of dish washhing soap and water before the WD-40. Let it soak for a bit, add more often to replace any that spills. After a while, if it still hasn't come loose. wrap the pipe with aluminum foil, then use a hairdrier to heat the connection. The foil is to keep heat off the inner pipe, as much as possible. Once the outer pipe is warm, try twisting and moving it again.
  • Thanks for the quick reply. Sorry about the pic. I am still trying to renew my knowledge about the posting side of stuff here.

Can't recall if I tried WD-40, but will do that and also thanks for the strap wrench idea. Maybe after the wd-40 does it's magic as well.
  • Try using a piece of rubber (line part of an old inner tube), get that around it and then insert a long pry pry bar twisting to tighten the rubber... turn the prybar and you may get it loose. Think of an oil filter wrench type of contraption.
  • Your picture is telling me I need permission.

I'd try something like WD40 overnight first.
