Stuck in the Mud

Here I sit on my front porch waiting for a wrecker to come pull my truck and trailer out of my side yard. Good Sam to the rescue!

This winter has been so bad that my yard is softer than it has ever been. I hooked up and got about ten feet when my truck just decided to drop about a foot into the lawn at all four tires. The trailer is still above ground, but it's not going anywhere without a winch to pull my truck and it about thirty feet to more solid ground. Thankfully, I wasn't headed out on a trip -- was just taking it to the dealer for a State inspection.

It looks like I'll have some yard work to do.

  • Well, the first tow truck came and gave it a shot, but he was too light and his winch cable too short. Good Sam got all of my info from me on weights, lengths and how far it was to solid ground. I am sure they gave that to the tow company, but they sent out the light-duty anyway. Now, I wait for a different truck.

  • When storing a RV on the dirt or grass, it is wise to put a block or piece of wood under the tires to keep from sinking in place. And when moving or driving a vehicle across soft soil, it is best to remember to lay plywood on the ground for the tires to roll to keep away that sinking feeling... Time is money even when doing yard work and plywood is cheaper.
