This August I took a wrong turn down a wash trying to get to the shore @ lake Powell pulling the jet skis: self rescue: Lesson learned should have listened to my gut and took the other way round and not followed the 4runners.
several years ago in Anza Borrego had to call my brother in law for rescue: Lesson learned: as soon as you hit the dirt put it in 4wd!! stuck in 2wd and could not get it to engage in 4wd
Anza Borrego: backed into our campsite for the night and the seemingly hard pack was only crust and we sunk in good. I guess the lesson learned was to spot what is hard pack
Here had to call ranger steve came the next morning to pull me out

That would take bit o shovel work or a snowblower.
Speaking of mud,if roads dont exist

We brought in help from the main shop in SLC (250 miles away) and another snowcat from another State Park.
Clickable link - 45 second video of rescue cat trying to pull out my cat.https://youtu.be/eSAlqNySX8M
It was really stuck. And after sitting over night it was frozen in place.
And to make things even worse after we got my snowcat out the rescue cat broke down and we had to leave it over night and come back and get it the next day. LOL
By the end of the 3rd day we got the job done.
Your video.... I loath mud. - jimh406Explorer IIII haven’t been stuck with the TC, but I have had to drive backwards. Walk up the hill to get the Ranger with snowplow and plow before I could get up my driveway. I was pushing 14 inches of snow.
I have been high center in the Ranger when hitting a especially high drift in the driveway that next AM.. It is light enough that it wouldn’t dig down to the asphalt. I hooked the TC with Truck and easily pulled it of tthe drift. - free_radicalExplorer

Soo easy to be judgmental when we weren't there to witness what happened in person.

This is stuck. You don't want to bury a snowcat miles from nowhere in the middle of the night. :B
Matt might have even struggled recovering this one.

Yes a kinetic rope or snatch strap very common used in recovery to transmit smoother energy and momentum to the stuck vehicle. Very handy to keep one with you... Easier to find another vehicle for help if you have the right equipment. Don't use a standard rope or tow strap as serious damage or injury is far more likely.
what surprised me was how he used the elasticity of the rope and gave it a hard jerk. I was sort of panicked when he started rolling, thinking he was going to snap the rope or pull the hitch point off. Very impressive result though.- billtexExplorer II

Yeah, not how most would do it. But hey-he got him out.
Thought I heard him say that was dyneema. That could brush off the shock load. - Close once and contemplated stuck overnight on Titus Canyon road. Mud was up to the axles and yet the most difficult part was at a slight decline and so we moved very slowly for about 20 minutes through the muck.
Had to be careful in the dry sand at Pismo a few times. Have since installed TrueTrac differentials front and rear and in similar situations it has been no issue since.
