Close once and contemplated stuck overnight on Titus Canyon road. Mud was up to the axles and yet the most difficult part was at a slight decline and so we moved very slowly for about 20 minutes through the muck.
Had to be careful in the dry sand at Pismo a few times. Have since installed TrueTrac differentials front and rear and in similar situations it has been no issue since.
