I, like you wanted a reliable system without the bells & whistles and without needing a second mortgage. I changed to a different toad last summer and wanted a new hitch and a brake system. After checking some information I went with the Blue Ox that attaches into the receiver of the motorhome and the Autostop braking system. I notice that rcpotter had a very negative post about the Autostop. I have not had any of the problems he encountered and believe it may have been related to adjustment. I have been happy with the Autostop. It is very simple to hook up when towing. I don't have to store anything when it is disconnected. The cost was reasonable. I have it adjusted, so that during slow normal stops it does not engage. It does engage on harder stops and on one occasion when someone stopped in front of me I could feel it helping to prevent a collision. We have gone down the Blueridge parkway with it and was happy with the way it worked.
