- Mr_Mark1ExplorerWe reserve 99.9% by phone. I don't trust online reservations. We PREFER a pull-through when available. I need to make sure it's long enough with toad attached. I like to talk to a real person on the phone.
We usually only reserve in advance at destination points..... otherwise, we'll call a couple of hours before stopping using our big thick campground book. Sometimes, before making the reservation, I'll check RVparkreviews.com to read the feedback about a potential park. It has made us bypass many parks due to the bad reviews.
MM. - Roy_LynneExplorerMostly we give the folks a call a day or two ahead of time when we are on the road. The only time we make advance reservations is when it really matters when and where we want to stay and then we do it online.
- OutdoorPhotograExplorerI guess I'm in the minority here. I generally prefer doing business online but if I haven't stayed at a campground previously, I like calling to ask questions about sites. I've have good luck calling and asking about most scenic sites, near bathhouses, private, etc. according to what we need for that trip. I've been placed in some nice spots for no additional charge simply by calling and asking.
- GaryWTExplorerMostly on the phone. I use online to see what is available then I call to be able to get a site I will fit and a location in the campground that I want. The beast does not roll out of the driveway if we do not have a spot for her. We look through brochures, reviews and websites, plan out the year and call to make reservations before the season starts. Would not want to go somewhere and they not have a spot and then we have to camp someplace we did not want to. Also we are usually looking for at least 3 sites together so online that is harder to do. Many websites you can request a reservation but not reserve. Also we camp at full hook up sites so the eliminates all or most state, federal and not private campgrounds.
Reserve America has the state campgrounds and maybe Encore resorts but that is all. KOA removed themselves from Reserve America. - Jebby14Explorer99% online. we mostly stick to Ontario provincial parks and they tend to be booked up for weekends well in advance if you want a good site.
- johnnyrvExplorerUsually by phone. But if the online system shows all available sites I will go online to pick what I want. If reserving in advance I always ask for an email confirmation.
- RollandBExplorerOnline, usually Reserve American unless a few county parks that use there own.
- Community AlumniOnly ever reserved for holiday weekends. Other times we just show up because we never know exactly where we'll end up; I hate giving in to a schedule! :E

Just wondering how folks reserve there campsite.
It will be fun to see the results.
So, do you reserve on line or do you do it over the phone?
I use both. I find and look for places on line and through other means. Then I call them and ask some forthright (but friendly) questions.
This usually results in us being much happier with the place we finally choose. And it also gives us a "feel" for the place or it's personality you just cant get by doing it all online. - nineoaks2004ExplorerMostly Reserve America, on line
Some states do not use R.A. so I still usually do it on line or if no other option is available I will reserve by telephone.
I always reserve ahead of time.
I do not like surprises, especially after traveling for awhile.
