We don't know that as the OP hasn't provided any tech information on his setup. That said, there's no reason to not use a properly sized and adjusted weight distribution system, the advantage being that if it's one that includes sway control as part of it's function as a WD system then no additional sway control equipment would be needed - i.e. exactly what the OP is looking for. Aside from backing up at an acute angle another drawback to a simple friction sway control such as the OP currently has is towing in heavy rain, a case in which one should arguably pull over and back off the sway control so as to not lock the TV and trailer too tightly together, potentially allowing the trailer to swing wide as the tires slip on the wet pavement. Investing in a WD system with integrated sway control eliminates this concern, as does backing up at acute angles, so in this regard suggesting weight distribution as a solution to the OP's concerns is entirely legitimate.
