You don't even have to remove the label. You are not renting the tank, you now own it. The guy (or gal) filling the tank doesn't care whose label is on it.
While that is factually correct, I have personally observed someone bringing a trade-in cylinder to a fill place, and the filler refused to fill it because of the label. His boss had told him not to fill them (no reason provided), so he wouldn't. If you take the label off, it prevents anything like that.
