I'm picking up the trailer on Saturday and will be towing it with the Tahoe and a 6,200 lb rating. Although I wanted to be closer to 4,500 on the dry weight, I'm not concerned with the Jayco Jay Flight's almost 5,000 lb dry weight (per yellow sticker even though the brochure shows 4,500 lb).Any suggestions regarding hitch set up aside from just the typical ball on the under bumper hitch? I've read a lot about Equalizer and other WD/sway contraptions but I'm not sure if I need one or not.Thanks.

Most 1/2 ton's hitches are rated for 5000lbs, 500lbs tongue weight, and anything higher requires weight distribution. I had towed a 4000lbs TT with my 1/2 ton silverado, and used an Equalizer brand W/D setup, since it incorporates sway control.Do you NEED W/D for that setup? Need is a strong word, but I think most here would recommend. Sway control IMHO is required.edit: Remember, you can easily add 1000lbs just from propane, gear, etc into the trailer. So don't forget you will be heavier once loaded.

It is my belief the a WDH is almost never overkill except on a small trailer & a big truck. While you might be able to tow without it, your towing experience will be so much better with. Safer too. A properly set up WHD will do a lot to prevent sway.

Nissan WDH hitchThis is what I use with my 2002 Avalanche and 6k gross weight Aerolite. Economical on price, still does the same thing the expensive WDH-only hitches do. No sway control, but I have not had a need for that.I have put several thousand miles on mine with no issues, just greasing the bars and ball every time I hook up.
