To answer a few of the questions and concerns...
therink, I have the standard P rated Goodyear tires that came on my truck. I know the walls are soft and I do what I can to help that by having 44psi in them when towing. It's certainly not ideal but it's better than 35psi when driving around town.
Larry, I am not avoiding anything. I stated that my loaded trailer weight is 7,500 and my tongue weight is about 11%. The actual tongue weight for this last trip was 840 pounds according to my scale. The reason I know the weight of my camper when loaded is because I have a metal scrap yard near me and I use their scales to check the weight. They leave them on 24/7 so I spend quite a bit of time there after they're closed checking the weights of my truck, my truck and hitch system, the trailer and then the all hitched up combined weight before I head out of town.
fx2tom, according to the stickers on my door, it says max tow rating 10,300. Ok, so I'm not quite 3,000 less but still well within the limit. Where I am close to capacity is with the payload. 1,530 pounds of payload is what the sticker says. So, it's me and my wife (combined weight of the two of us is 350lbs) after adding the tongue weight and the tonneau cover weight and the undercoating and spray in bed liner, I'm just about at max payload so I leave the bed empty.
the trip before this last one isn't really a good gauge of things because I was mostly on back roads going to a State Park Campground and rarely was going more than 45mph. On that trip I had a full fresh water tank. On this latest trip, I didn't bring any water in that tank because we were staying at a campground with water hookups.
