Tank Treatments

After years of discussion, and the general conclusion that Rid-X type treatments are not valid for RV holding tank use, the maker of Rid-X is now advertising a product FOR RV use!

I guess they want to get in on the RV market.

Here is a link: Tank Treatment

  • it is mindboggling that anyone thought this stuff was worthwhile to begin with, or any other similar products out there…
the only product ever needed is water…
  • We dump our black every four days, on average.

I also have to question just how much impact, or much good, the ingredients could do in such a short time?

Just above the 'Buy it Now' link on the advertisement, it states for tanks up to 1500 gallons.
That doesn't sound like a RV product to me.

It also states it is for marine use. It's in liquid form so you can add an ounce at a time. I'll wait for reviews before buying it.

My RV has a holding tank, not a septic system. I leave the gray tank valves open while in use as do many others. I dump my black tank every few days like many others. I use a lot of water in my black tank and don't waste any money on needless chemicals...

ITA: Unless you have a residential, destination trailer-an RV has a holding tank, not a septic tank. Two very different things. This new Rid-X product looks just like the usual RV toilet holding tank products. Don't know why they haven't been marketing it before. After all, if you're 'in' the toilet business???
