We taught our kids how to do things in the woods.
- Starting a fire without matches or with wet wood, how to keep it going when it is raining.
- took them on the hiking trails. Reading animal tracks.
- Of coarse many types of fishing,
- Get a survival book and learn what can be eaten, how to sanitize water.
- A fun thing can be get a compass and set up a coarse they need to follow.
- There are also these days GPS games called geo..games. all over the US people have hidden things. You go to the geo game of your choice look for things in your area, when you find it you sign it and rehide it for the next person to find.
- We have a croquet set and horse shoe set. We setup the croquet through the trees for a challenging obstacle coarse.
We did a lot of these when they were babies, into their teens and now they are in their 30's and we still go out. They have picked up that and show their friends and their friends kids the same time.
Good luck and have fun!
