The problem with both if these is that you have no idea of how much power you are using until a month later. If you have a short in your house you could end up with a whopping bill over a two month period.

When I lived at a house where I had to pay for power I liked that fact that I could read my own meter and then I knew how much power I had used. Then I could calculate it out and plan it into my next months budget.

Have you tried going online to read your meter? When they installed mine, I was then able to see my power usage up to the minute with graphs and other useful information. At most, it had a 10-30 minute delay.
