My main question about the Champion generator you bought is this. Is there an extended run tank that can be hooked up to it? I have nothing against the Champion, and in a different circumstance, I could well have bought one.
However, in my case, I already had a Honda 2000i from years ago. Champions had yet to be thought of. So, when it became necessary to add power in order to run my AC 24 hours a day, I bought the Honda Companion EU2000i. Easy to twin, and I could hook up an extended run gas tank.
I do wish the Honda's could be purchased at a cheaper price. Honda has done a good job (for the company) keeping the price artificially high.

Criticism is easy, so let's see where you stand on a positive note. Earlier you said, "...brilliant marketing that Honda has done convincing the consumer that spending three times what a very good generator costs is really worth it. And succeeding"
So, $900 divided by 3 is $300. Is there a $300 generator currently on the market you approve of ?
I am not clinging to anything but really the facts. My generator is a Champion Dual Fuel 3800/4750 Watt generator, I paid $500 at Camping World (on sale)
A quick internet search turned up many Hondas but only 3000Wat EU300s the closest in wattage I could find at $1999.99
When I divide that I get 3.
And many people who buy the lesser watt HOndas buy TWO so they can have enough ultimate power So if you have to buy two at $999 then it makes even less sense.
I realized that just after this posted I needed to clarify it: First the Champion normally sells for about $650, I got mine on sale. So in my OP I was dealing in average numbers meant to reflect the range of prices one finds on the Hondas and all other generators. The number above is actually much closer to 4 than 3.
And my point is not whether Hondas are good generators They are really good ones, but even at that they are overpriced.
