To be clear, I didn't get 2 more generators. I only got one more, to match my original EU2000i. I bought my first Honda before the Champion was ever dreamed of.
As for the extended run tank, this is why they are so necessary for me and my friends. We follow Va Tech football, both home and away. September in Blacksburg, can, believe it or not, get pretty hot, and sometimes humid. We need to run our generators. Also, during the game, we have to run the AC to make sure the dog stays comfy.
And for away games, depending on where they are, the twin generators and an extended run gasoline take can be imperative. In about 4 years we played twice in the CFA kickoff classic in Atlanta. Labor Day weekend in Atlanta can be brutal. One year, when we had the Class B RV, we ran the on board generator for 36 straight hours. The last time, we had a trailer, and still had to run the AC for 18+ hours. An extended run was a requirement.
Granted a lot of RVers do not need a twin generators, nor do they need an extended run tank.

My main question about the Champion generator you bought is this. Is there an extended run tank that can be hooked up to it? I have nothing against the Champion, and in a different circumstance, I could well have bought one.
However, in my case, I already had a Honda 2000i from years ago. Champions had yet to be thought of. So, when it became necessary to add power in order to run my AC 24 hours a day, I bought the Honda Companion EU2000i. Easy to twin, and I could hook up an extended run gas tank.
I do wish the Honda's could be purchased at a cheaper price. Honda has done a good job (for the company) keeping the price artificially high.4X4Dodger wrote:2oldman wrote:
...You're obviously clinging to the marketing hype argument rather than listening to any other reasoning for "over paying" for a generator.
Criticism is easy, so let's see where you stand on a positive note. Earlier you said, "...brilliant marketing that Honda has done convincing the consumer that spending three times what a very good generator costs is really worth it. And succeeding"
So, $900 divided by 3 is $300. Is there a $300 generator currently on the market you approve of ?
I am not clinging to anything but really the facts. My generator is a Champion Dual Fuel 3800/4750 Watt generator, I paid $500 at Camping World (on sale)
A quick internet search turned up many Hondas but only 3000Wat EU300s the closest in wattage I could find at $1999.99
When I divide that I get 3.
And many people who buy the lesser watt HOndas buy TWO so they can have enough ultimate power So if you have to buy two at $999 then it makes even less sense.
I realized that just after this posted I needed to clarify it: First the Champion normally sells for about $650, I got mine on sale. So in my OP I was dealing in average numbers meant to reflect the range of prices one finds on the Hondas and all other generators. The number above is actually much closer to 4 than 3.
And my point is not whether Hondas are good generators They are really good ones, but even at that they are overpriced.
I have only run mine on propane and it uses so little I cant imagine running out of fuel before I needed to shut it off. So an extened run tank is not part of the issue for me.
But (here we start to beat the dead horse) I cant imagine the extended run tank being worth two more generators?
And I do have to add I am very happy with the Champion.
