Little or nothing on your post is much of a scam. Most of it is low buck stuff which may or may not have significant advantage (such as toilet paper) but is not going to change anyone's finances for the worse-given they have the RV (the money pit).
Comparing a Honda inverter generator vs. a $500 Champion is apples-oranges comparison. These have different levels of reliability and function. They are only somewhat overlapping products. I would certainly trust mission critical power needs to the Honda first. But some people don't need that. Frankly I think there should be a generator class above the current Honda..something with fuel injection, auto altitude compensation, and cat converter. Something I'd pay for..not a scam for me.
If you want to see true scam look no further than high end audio. Thousands of dollars for speaker cable for instance. And a lot more!
