So, at our last Good Sam Club meeting our president brought news from our state chapter that Good Sam Corporate was planning on changing the name of "Samboree" to "Camp Out" to better market the RV Lifestyle.
Anyone else out there hear of this?!
I was told that Samboree is out and rally is in. Our local campouts have always been campouts.
A few years ago we weren't allowed to refer to a Samboree as a rally because only the national club had "The Rally". Now they want us to call Samborees a rally.
The hierarchy of Good Sam changes their policies as often as the wind changes directions. As a chapter officer I have seen constant confusion and change in the last several years. I am tired of the silliness, especially since management considers the club as only a "marketing tool" for the sale of RV goods and services.
Thanks for the (sad) confirmation. I wonder what newbie bonehead in marketing came up with THAT bright idea?
And, sadly, you are right about the "Good Sam Machine" It seems like camping world has been on a buying spree of late - it has gobbled up several large RV dealers here in the south and turned them into Camping World supercenters.
If this keeps up, DW and I will stop being active Good Sam members and get involved in other activities like the Escapees or the Forest River Owners Group
