I'm kind of flashlight enthusiast have a couple fairly late model Fenix units. But I have slowed down on upgrades-because on a dark road or trail I often use one of the lower settings on these lights. The brightest is good for the shock value or wow! response. Amazing how much light power you can easily carry these days.
I'm fascinated with vintage flashlights. They're often reasonable in price and can be 75 years old or more and still use current stock batteries. Even though they're dim and yellow by modern standards kind of fun to think of the history you're walking around with and still doing the job.
