Flashlight for camping needed

Agree 100%, it is the one I use also and more than worth the money. In fact I am going to order another one because my DW keeps borrowing mine and I can never find it when I am the one to need it. Great light, you will not be disappointed.

You can buy 12 of these Cree adjustable 1000+ lumens for that price and they use the same Cree chip. Granted you cannot use them to beat someone over the head with them, but they are amazingly bright and use three AAA batteries that will only run them for a year in normal use. Not sure why you would need a lithium ion battery (rechargeable 1000 times) unless it has a USB port to recharge your phone.
OP, buy one and try it if in doubt but you will end up putting one in every vehicle you own and all around the house and RV.

ego rather than need spurs the purchase of many of these items. IMHO a flashlight for general use is basically a disposable item. I will lose it or have the batteries corrode it before it is worn out.

What kind of camping are you thinking about? RV'ing, hiking? If you are RV'ing, then big heavy flashlights are fine. If you are hiking, you want super lightweight lights.

I've found that for the expensive flashlights out there, I can buy 3 or 4 or more inexpensive small LED flashlights that seem to work fine. Just look in your local hardware store, Walmart, wherever.

If you are backcountry hiking and camping, yes, you may want to invest in fancy flashlights for dependability.

At Christmas HDepot had them (non adjustable but with the Cree chip) two for $10 with the six AAA batteries. They also had two head lamps with the Cree chip for $10 so for $100 I had great gifts for five families.
You can find rechargeable non focusing one for $6 on Ebay.

a headlamp (like having both hands with full digits available).

For $100? I would REALLY hate to lose one of those!

I am using $8 flashlights with $4 rechargable Li-Ion battery in them.

I might recommend a Ryobi flashlight if you have a drill with the same battery. DeWalt and Makita also sell a similar flashlight.

The battery packs are now 3-4 amp hours, light, and 12 - 18 volts, so hold many watts in them!

When camping you need to see and have your hands free. Get a headlight as others have mentioned. I use a petzl brand. Love it.
